JDRF recognizes the overwhelming and immediate need to provide a variety of support mechanisms and education to children and adults with type 1 diabetes, and to their families. With this thought in mind on Saturday, June 21st, 2014 Texas JDRF chapters will unite to host TypeOneNation Texas 2014 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. This is a one-day interactive conference bringing diabetes experts from around the country as well as families, adults and health professionals focusing on type 1 diabetes for all ages. Participants of this exciting full day educational conference will take part in sessions for adults with T1D, parent sessions, alternate caregiver training, and a fun and educational child track for children ages 5-14.
Earlier this year JDRF Houston hosted Type One Connect, Houston’s largest conference for people of all ages living with type 1 diabetes, their families and the medical community. The goal of TypeOneNation Texas 2014 is to reach a broader audience and by combining resources JDRF Texas chapters will be able to provide a more comprehensive educational conference that essentially touches more of the T1D community. The education that diabetes and health professionals will impart to the participants at this event will arm them with the tools, technology and knowledge to manage their disease and health leaving them feeling empowered to thrive and live well with T1D.
